The Metamorphosis

For this project, I designed a cover, interior layout, and film-poster adaptation for The Metamorphosis that apply research-driven publication design principles to communicate tone and target audience. Each piece explores sequence, typographic finesse, and image–text relationships to create a cohesive, professional visual system for the story.

Book Cover

The cover foreshadows the story without revealing it—a faded family photo overlaid on nostalgic wallpaper, obscured by a beetle placed over the protagonist’s face, hinting at his transformation and domestic confinement.

Page Layout

Inside, I chose a traditional serif typeface reminiscent of early 20th-century print design, with a small beetle motif that occasionally “crawls” across the margins, reinforcing the story’s slow, creeping unease.

Movie Poster Adaptation

To adapt the design into a film poster, I updated the typography for clarity and modern appeal, added production credits, and refined the layout to balance cinematic presence with the book’s original atmosphere.

Thank you for viewing.
